Ó Ceallachains League Week 3

31 riders signed on once again for Round 3 of our Beginners and Underage League. The evening was sunny, breezy and cool. Katie Fleming knocked over 4 minutes off last week’s time to win the one lap race, ahead of Jack Hickey and Niamh O’ Loughlin. Luke Dunne, Aisling McCarthy and Roisín Dunphy rounded off the top 6.

In the overall standings, it couldn’t be closer with 3 riders separated by a single point. Thomas Parle and Luke Dunne have 90 points and Jack Hickey has 89. They are followed by Katie Fleming on 87 points, Liam Kelly on 84 points and Niamh O’ Loughlin on 83.

Portlaw’s Kyle Crotty rode to a solo victory in the 3 lap race, followed by Corey Kelly and Conor Murphy. Gavin Redmond, Killian McHale and Caelan Ryan were next home. Ninth place was enough for Michael O’ Loughlin to retain his place at the top of the leaderboard on 88 points. Kyle Crotty moves into second on 86 points, with Niall Dempsey (83), Aaron Kearney and Conor Murphy (82) and Killian McHale and Conor Power on 80 points.

With 50 points for a win, a lot can change in one week. The league continues next Monday 6th of June, with the final two rounds on June 13th anf 20th.
