By May 4, 2008 Race Reports

Corkman 3 Day

We have gotten our defence of the Corkman jersey, won last year by Sam Bennett off to a flyer on stage 1. Mickey O’Reilly took the opening stage with Diarmuid Carew a superb 5th whilst Martin O’Loughlin put in a huge effort to pull a 1:45 deficit back to just 10 seconds at the finish to ensure that he remains in contention going into the remaining stages.

There were great results in the underage section also with Dylan O’Brien taking 2nd in the U12 road race and 4th in the TT. Michael O’Loughlin took 8th in the U12 road race (1st in the U11) and a superb 3rd in the TT. Finally, rising young star Eamonn Maher too 3rd in the U16 road race but won the TT. The future of the club looks to be in safe hands !

Tour of Ulster

Meanwhile in the Tour of Ulster, Joe Fenlons superb comeback remains on course. Joe was pick of the clubs riders on the day taking 7th place amongst the elite of Irish Cycling in a stage won by Giant Asia professional, Paul Griffin.

Good luck to all riders in todays stages.
