With the evenings lengthening and the weather becoming milder, Spring is truly in the air and the Irish Cycling Season is under way.  The town that many describe as the heart of Irish cycling, Carrick-on-Suir, is the venue for the next main event on the CyclingIreland Calender, as the Carrick Wheelers Cup is once again promoted on St. Patrick’s Day….

Our annual riders’ meeting will take place on Sunday 12th February in the Old Mill, New Street at 4pm sharp. As is usual, we will plan the first half of the season and discuss our preparations for the An Post Rás. All riders are requested to attend.

Noel O’Doherty RIP Sadly the club’s Honorary Vice-President Noel O’Doherty passed away on the 24th December. His removal will be from Kiely’s Funeral Home Dungarvan on Tuesday 27th December at 5.30pm to St Mary’s Parish Church. Requiem mass on Wednesday 28th December at 11am with the burial in the adjoining cemetery. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Carrick-on-Suir’s Martin O’ Loughlin has been appointed as Manager of the Irish cycling team for the London Olympics. This will be his second time fulfilling the role. He was also the manager for the Athens Olympics in 2004. O’ Loughlin has over 30 years of involvement in the sport. He won his first race in 1980 and was still winning…
