Another win for club rider of the year, Hugh Mulhearne at the Betty D’Arcy Memorial in Gorey Co. Wexford at the weekend. Hugh again solo’ed to the line in terrible conditions, shedding his breakaway companions in the last 3km of the 100km event to take the honors. With no luck for the Tipperary hurlers in Croke Park yesterday, Mulhearne made sure some silverware would make its way back to the premier county one way or another.

Away from the gun with two other riders, Hugh was taking the wind all day long. With one lap of 4 remaining, a group of 8 riders made their way across. “I thought my chances had gone, but it split on the final climb and then i kept attacking until i got away 3km form the finish”, said a soaked but delighted Hugh after he crossed the line.
