After much anticipation, the final race of the O’ Ceallachain’s Underage League arrived last night. A great crowd of supporters and parents were present to witness the final showdown. Elizabeth Moloney was first home in the one lap event, but all eyes were on the minor placings where third place was enough for Jack Hickey to pip Dylan Walsh in the overall standings by 78 points to 77 with Elizabeth Moloney third on 71 points.

The three lap event saw a dominant display by Conor Hahessy who was never caught, but by finishing a clear second, Kellie O’ Donnell secured overall victory on 72 points from Michael O’ Loughlin on 64, with 10 year old Bill Brennan third on 63.

Clodagh O’ Donnell and last year’s winner Scott Bennett were tied on 60 points, but Clodagh was declared fourth overall on countback. The impressive Conal Conroy ended the series on 6th overall followed by Conor Hahessy and Richard Dunphy. Sean Hahessy, Caoimhe Kelly and Tomas Lacey completed the top ten.
Fourth, fifth and sixth overall in the one lap event were Conal O’ Sullivan, Geoff Cooke and Seanin O’ Connor.
One other presentation was made on the night. Pat Murphy was presented with the club’s Merit Award. Pat has been ever-present on our club’s race days on his motorbike making the race safe for the competitors in the Carrick Cabs Cup and the Tommy Sheehan Memorial. He gives us great publicity in his day job with Tipp FM. He also assists Sam Bennett with his speedwork. Well done Pat!
