Panduit Carrick Wheelers would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many people that made this year’s National Youth’s Championship the success that it was. Our thanks extend to the many competitors, their supporting families & friends, Cycling Ireland, the Commissaire’s, the Stewarts, neighbouring clubs and the Gardai; without which none of this would be possible.
Considering today’s current climate in terms of the COVID19 Pandemic, the cooperation and adherence to HSE recommendations by all is very much appreciated.
Our Chairman, Tom O’Connell expressed particular gratitude to both our Club Riders, Stewarts and Race Director of the day.
“Firstly, the honesty and pride that our riders expressed on the day was to be commended. In such a strong field every one of our riders brought a battle to the opposition and as a result held the eventual winners accountable to a hard and well-earned victory, as well as providing some fantastic racing. Our riders were humble in defeat, acknowledging the opposition that they faced on the day and it was particularly up-lifting to see them all still smiling at the end of the day.
Secondly, to our many Stewarts and Marshalls on the day. Without these people the safe environment for racers and support alike on the day would not have been possible. You all gave up your time willingly to ensure everyone’s safety on the day and did so without complaint. A special note of mention goes to Ray Cullen, our chief safety officer for co-ordinating this plan seamlessly behind the scenes.
Finally, to our Race Director, Martin O’Loughlin. Martin has put many ours in behind the scenes over the past number of weeks to pull this event together. A lot of effort and co-ordination between varies parties was required, with the added pressure of COVID-19 restrictions, all of which culminated on the day to a fantastic and enjoyable event.
As chairman of the club, I believe this is a historic and proud day for our club to be able to host the national championships. While the day itself was a long and busy day, I believe with time all within the club will reflect on this day with a great sense of pride and achievement. Again, thanks to all for your efforts”
