Our 2011 league kicked off tonight in blustery showery conditions not ideal for time trialling. 29 young boys and girls signed on in the village of Faugheen, with competitors travelling from as far as Knocklofty, Tramore and Slieverue. There was a considerable increase in the number of road racing bikes, many of them getting their first outing.
However, for a slow night, there were some remarkable times recorded. Michael O’ Loughlin reversed last year’s result by beating Sean Hahessy by 7 seconds. In third place was Kyle Crotty, 4 seconds ahead of Conor Power.

Next week, we will have the first of 5 road races. The best 4 results count, so everybody can afford to have one ‘off night’. So, Faugheen is the place to be at 7pm next Monday evening. It’s free to enter as the league is generously supported by O’ Ceallacháins and supported by the South Tipperary Local Sports Partnership and South Tipperary Conty Council.
Many thanks to all of the stewards, lead car drivers and parents for their support.
