Our club is in mourning following the news that Bobby Power has passed away.
Bobby was the most prolific one day rider of his generation, notching up 107 senior open race victories. Bobby served as Club Chairman, Coach and PRO, injecting the same enthusiasm and energy into those roles as he did on the bike.
Bobby was our Captain; a leader of men.
To his wife Mags, his children Conor, Deirdre, Cian and Evin, his parents Peg and Tom we offer our deepest sympathies.
Funeral arrangements:
Sunday 15th May 2pm – 6pm visitors welcome at the house.

Very sad news.
I never really knew Bobby but raced in some of the same bunches when I was a junior in the 80’s. Bobby was one of those riders we all looked up to. A hard man, a great rider but down to earth and a nice bloke.
May he rest in peace.

On behalf of all the Delaney family may I pass on our condolences to Mags and family and the greater Carrick cycling community.
“Sure he cant climb”. I can actually remember saying it after finally finishing the Tour of the Slade and being told Power had won it, the toughest climbing race in Ireland in its time, but Bobby had just blitzed all us soft Dubs.
The welcome myself and my family got in Carrick was overwhelming sometimes and Bobby was always central to it. In fact for the 1st 4 days of the 83 Ras with Tipperary Bobby was the only one I could understand. A master for preparation and tactics he was always an inspiration. In 86 the night before the big mountain stage he just told Stephen, Andy and myself that we would be delivered to the bottom of the climbs at the front and it was our job to do the rest. Letting him down was not an option, he was our captain.

RIP Bobby Power. What a sad loss and my deepest condolences to his wife and children and all his many friends in cycling.Bobby let his legs do the talking. By the time I raced against him family and work had rightly taken priority but he could still make the best of riders hurt and could never be taken lightly. A true gentleman of the road.
Bobby may you rest in peace, my condolences to his family,

Very sad news. I raced as a junior in the 80s when Bobby was at the peak of his career. I also attended a cycling seminar he gave in Limerick around that time and got a lot of benefit from his knowledge. Rest in Peace.
Very sad news. My condolences to the family of Bobby and to all the cycling community that were lucky to have known him

I started racing the same night as Bobby did, during the Carrick Wheelers cycling league which started on the new bridge and one lap of Fiddown and Piltown. I rode seven Ras and most of them with Bobby, even though we were on different teams, he was always a Carrick Wheeler. Bobby’s passing has created a void in the cycling world. Deepest sympathy to his family and extended family and friends.
He was slightly older than me but I knew him to see him in the old days. He was a good bloke and didn’t appear to have an enemy in the world.
Very sorry to hear the sad news about Bobby I remember him from school as a lovely guy. Sadly despite cycling in Carrick with ‘the opposition’ I didnt get the chance meet up with him again though I followed his career with pride.
