Continuing his rich vein of form of late, Michael O’Loughlin has added “the big one” to his fast growing palamares, assuming the title of Irish U11 Road Race Champion, not only that, Michael also took the title of Irish U11 Criterium Champion, before rounding the weekend of with a 3rd place in the Irish U11 TT championships. So in summary that makes him a double Irish champion and triple medal winner !!!

In the Road Race, Michael was part of a group of 6 who broke clear at the halfway mark before going on to contest a sprint which we won from Declan Mulholland (Clann Éireann) and Ryan Orr (Old Bleach CC). (both Belfast).

In the Criterium on Saturday morning Michael was again the winner ahead of Declan Mulholland (Clann Éireann) and Aaron Swan (Ballymena). Michael attacked with 2 km to go and held out to win by a single bike length.

Finally in a closey contested TT on Saturday afternoon the results were as follows: 1st D Mulholland 4.59, 2nd Aaron Swan 5.02, 3rd Michael O’Loughlin 5.04

Interestingly, Michael was the only medal winner from the South. This trend was repeated in the other 5 categories.

In other results for the club:

Eamonn Maher was 4th in the U16 Criterium, 6th in the Road Race and 7th in the Time Trial.

John Skeehan was 8th in the U15 road race, 15th in the Criterium and 15th in the Time Trial.

Dylan O’Brien was 5th in the Criterium, 6th in the Time Trial and 9th in the Road Race.

Well done to all concerned !!
