Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers Cycling Club officially launched their new look clothing on site at Iverk Produce Headquarters, situated just outside the famous cycling town of Carrick-on-Suir , on Saturday 31st March.
The famous Carrick Wheelers, a club steeped in history and tradition since its foundation in 1954, are thrilled to have secured the financial backing of this strong local company who employ almost 200 people and have been a major employer in the locality for generations. Iverk Produce, who are based in Piltown, Co. At the launch, General Manger of Iverk Produce Paul Brophy, spoke of “the proud tradition Iverk Produce has as an employer locally” and the company were delighted to complete this sponsorship deal as they are helping to support a local club and promoting healthy lifestyle choices through their involvement in the sport of cycling.
Similarly, Carrick Wheelers Chairman Bobby Sheehan commented on what a “truly excellent deal it is for our cycling club. With this sponsorship from Iverk Produce, Carrick Wheelers can continue to generate future Olympians, European and National Champions, Rás Winners and Irish Internationals as the club have done over the past few decades.” “This deal guarantees that our riders can continue to compete at the highest level domestically, entering races from the An Post Rás and National Cycling Championships against the professionals, to the usual weekend races throughout the country.”
The club’s chairman also highlighted that the promotion of the sport of cycling is very important to the club. Sheehan continued “in addition to producing some of Ireland’s best cyclists, cycling event promotion has always been of immense importance to our club. Thanks to this impressive partnership with Iverk Produce, Carrick Wheelers will be able to continue their pro-active stance in the promotion of races, leisure events and under-age leagues locally.’
The club do indeed have a reputation for promoting excellent events, with their renowned St. Patrick’s Day race, The Carrick Wheelers Cup, recently attracting over 200 competitors, their upcoming Tommy Sheehan Memorial Cycling Race, aiming to do the same as this event boasts a full under-age racing program, The Carrick Wheelers Challenge Sportive, a leisure event founded last year by the late Bobby Power and finally a six-week under-age league, organized in the early summer months for those of a younger age interested in trying out this beneficial sport.
Iverk Produce has continued their long tradition of supporting local sport with this new three year sponsorship deal and both parties can now look forward to some successful years ahead, promoting cycling and healthy lifestyles at both local and national levels.
