Sam 7th on the stage & 9th overall, John Dempsey 2nd in the King of the Mountains and 10th overall, and Tipperary Dan Morrissey leading the county award after Stage 1 of the FBD Insurance Ras from Kilcullen to Wexford today. Definitely a great day for the club!
John Dempsey just being pipped for the King of the Mountains prime by Colm Robinson of Meath Martin Donnelly. John picked up a 2 second time bonus for this effort which moved him to 10th overall.
The stage was won by former Belgian champion Nico Eeckhout of An Post, with Britain’s Russell Downing 2nd and William Walker of Australia 3rd. All 8 of our club’s riders finished safely in the nervous, wet conditions. Well done boys!
Sam is tucked in neatly in 7th place… the 8th placed rider is 2 seconds back.
