The Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers promoted Underage League, got underway in Faugheen, Co. Tipperary on Monday evening last. This hugely popular league is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Ó Ceallacháin’s Bar & Bistro, Carrick-on-Suir and support of the South Tipperary Sports Partnership.
Bright sun and a blustery wind greeted the 32 boys and girls aged between 10 and 16 who signed on for the event, now in its 7th year. Luckily for all concerned the heavy showers of late held off. Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers Ruairi Dunne, making the long trip from Mallow, laid down a great time of 5.58. However, it was the next man off, Daniel Browne riding for Clonmel CC who blazed around the 3.6KM course in 5.45. Try as they might the next 20 starters could not better the time. However, another Clonmel CC rider, Gavin Redmond ran him close in a time of 5.55, good enough for 2nd on the night.
