Hugh Mulhearne has became the latest Veteran Irish Road Race Champion from the Carrick Wheelers with an impressive victory in a very wet Dundalk, Co. Louth. Riding in an 8 man break all day long, with a couple of laps remaining he surged clear with former champ, Greg Swinard of the Irish road club where the two decided the contest with Derek Joyce of Galway finishing 3rd. Hugh, a multiple National Champion on the track in recent years follows in the footsteps of Rory Wyley, Martin O’Loughlin and Sean McIlroy becoming the National Veteran Road Race champion and adds to his already impressive palmarès.
