Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers will be promoting the second of their two annual cycling races next weekend, as they promote The Tommy Sheehan Memorial Cycling Race in Carrick-on-Suir next Sunday, June 30th. The 2013 event will see a number of changes from previous editions including a change of circuit for senior and under-age races, new sponsors in the form of SRAM, change of venue for sign-on and some new great prizes.
Event Information:
Sign-On: Carrick Swan Juvenile GAA Centre (located just behind Carrick-on-Suir Garda Station on the N24 main road). U12 and U14 Sign-On in Faugheen (more information below). €15 for seniors and €5 under-age (bring correct amount if possible).
Circuit Change: This year’s event will see a change of circuit from the traditional Kearney’s road circuit on the Co. Waterford side of Carrick-on-Suir to the Glenbower circuit in Co. Tipperary. Most racing cyclists will be familiar with then Glenbower circuit in Carrick-on-Suir as it has been used for Carrick-on-Suir’s St. Patrick’s Day race, the Carrick Wheelers Cup, for the past decade.
The A Race
The A Race will be for 1st and 2nd Category riders and will begin at 1.00pm. Prizes will be presented to the first eight riders and well as the prestigious Tommy Sheehan Memorial Trophy for the outright winner. The race will entail 3 laps of the Glenbower circuit and will measure 100km in total.
The B Race
The B Race will be held for 3rd Category riders and will begin at 1.05pm. Prizes will be presented to the first eight riders. The race will entail 3 laps of the Glenbower circuit and will measure 100km in total.
The C Race
The C Race will be held for 4th Category riders and will begin at 1.10pm. Prizes will be presented to the first eight riders. The race will entail 2 laps of the Glenbower circuit and will measure 66km in total.
There will also be a memorial winners yellow jersey for the winners of each senior event. These jerseys are sponsored by Luccasports.com.
The U16 Race
The U16 race will be held for riders under 16 yrs and will begin at 1.15pm and will entail one lap of the Glenbower circuit.
The U14 Race
The U14 Race will be held for riders under 14 yrs and will begin at 11.00am.
IMPORTANT: The U14 Race and Sign-On will be held in the village of Faugheen which is located outside 7.5km outside of Carrick-on-Suir, using the R697.
The U12 Race
The U12 Race will be held for riders under 12 yrs and will begin at 11.00am.
