Hugh Mulhearne kept the good run of results coming with a fine silver medal in the National Omnium Championships at Sundrive Road in Dublin. He came agonizingly close to retaining the title he claimed 12 months ago, claiming 3 events from 6 along the way. But in the end John Lynch of Kilcullen took the decision by the small margin of 8 hundreds of a second over the flying 250m event. Hugh hasn’t been focusing as much this season on the track as he did last year which saw him claim many titles, a strategy which saw him become the National Veteren Road Race Champion in June, but with some more big track days to come this year, who would bet against the Kilmac man adding to his title haul.
