Seán Hahessy of Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers underlined his current form taking a second victory in as many Sundays at the Middleton CTC Grand Prix in County Cork. The International Junior rider who has had to commit much of this cycling season to the important business of his leaving certificate is certainly making up for time spent with his head in the books this year and headed in to the 90km event as the man to watch. 8 laps of a tough circuit would decide where the prizes went on a very humid day for bike racing, but Sean was not put off by the muggy weather conditions and after the first lap which saw the main favorites test each other out, Seán decided on the 2nd lap that it was time to see what shape his fellow competitors were in and unleashed a stinging attack. Only 3 other riders could hang onto the rear wheel of the Carrick man and this quartet knuckled down to carving as big an advantage as they could manage over the main field, with Niall Og Dunne and Conor Hennebry also of Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers doing their best to hider the attempts to reel in the breakaway. The lead was slow to grow at first but starting the last lap the leaders had over a minute on the chasing pack.
Sensing the power drain from his companions on what was a hot and humid day, Seán again accelerated forward, the three other riders were unable to match him and although it was a tough ride and a big ask to solo to the line for a distance of about 10km, Seán managed to maintain a minute advantage over the three men all the way to the chequered flag, with Niall and Conor finishing to the fore of the bunch shortly after this. Also in action in A1/A2 race was Eoin Greene – Eoin rode a competitive race, finishing just outside of the top 10.
