Yesterday, Sam Bennett claimed his first senior victory on French soil when he won the Alleins GP. This race in the south of France attracted over 100 of France’s top amateur cyclists contributing to the race astonishing average speed of 45kph.
Sam missed the main move of the day but held his cool until 10km to the finish when he single-handedly bridged the 40second gap from the main field to the 20man break-away! Once the break was altogether coming into the finish the Frenchmen were left watching as Sam unleashed his sprint to win this prestigious French event. As the Dan Morrissey Carrick Wheelers man (now riding with top French amateur team VC La Pomme) crossed the line win his arms raised he even had a number of bike lengths to spare over his rivals!
Hopefully we might be able to get more details and some pic soon.
